Family Therapy
in Edmond, Oklahoma

Relationships are at the core of who we are. When family members struggle to communicate or feel a sense of safety and connection, distress can impact everyone involved. At Trellis Therapy, we provide family therapy to help loved ones improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationships. Our approach supports families in creating understanding, fostering trust, and building a more harmonious home environment.

Our Approach

Our approach to family therapy is rooted in relational healing and systemic understanding. As marriage and family therapists, our training is built around understanding families as systems, which means we look at the patterns and dynamics between family members rather than placing blame on any one person. When one part of the family is hurting, the whole family feels it, and lasting change happens when everyone is part of the healing.

Drawing from Family Systems Theory and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) we tailor each session to your family's unique needs, whether you are navigating conflict between parents and teens, adjusting to a major life transition, healing after a loss, want to reconnect with your adult children, or simply feeling disconnected. We guide the process collaboratively, making sure each family member feels heard, valued, and supported, and we work at your family's pace to create lasting positive change and nurture healthier relationships that continue long after therapy ends.

Invest in Your Family

Family therapy is an investment in connection, understanding, and harmony. Whether your family is navigating conflict, transitions, or challenges in communication, our team provides a safe and supportive space to help your family flourish together.

Frequently Asked Questions about
Family Therapy

How much is family therapy?

For a 50 min session, price depends on the therapist you are working with. Intern therapists charge $5-$55 based on household income. LMFT-Candidates charge $135 and our LMFTs charge $145. Additionally, our LMFT-candidates and LMFTs offer sliding scale rates based on availability.

Do you take insurance?
We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We can provide a Superbill for most services which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients find that private pay offers benefits insurance doesn't: no required diagnosis on your record, no session limits, and complete privacy.

What family members should be present during therapy?

It depends! Family therapy can consist of all family members or subsystems of a family. Some example could be: parents and one child, siblings, or extended family members and adult children. Our therapists can help and your family determine who may need to be present for the sessions.

How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, which builds momentum early on. As you progress, many move to biweekly and eventually once a month before graduating therapy. If you need a different frequency based on your needs, your therapist is happy to work to accommodate your needs.

How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals. Some clients feel meaningful relief in 8–20 sessions; others working through deeper trauma or long-standing patterns choose to work together for longer. We'll check in regularly about your progress and see what works best for you!

How do I find a therapist that is a good fit for me?

Reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. We'll talk about what you're looking for, answer your questions, and match you with the therapist who best fits your needs. Additionally, if one of our therapists is not the best fit for your needs, we will help connect you with one of our trusted colleagues who may be the best fit for you. We look forward to getting to talk with you!
