Couples Therapy
in Edmond, Oklahoma
Have you and your partner been feeling disconnected or stuck in negative patterns? At Trellis Therapy, we provide couples therapy designed to help partners strengthen their relationship, heal emotional wounds, and build a foundation of safety, trust, and connection. Our approach supports couples in exploring communication patterns, repairing betrayals, and creating a more positive and fulfilling relationship.
Our Approach
Our approach to couples therapy combines evidence-based methods with the warmth and safety you need to have the conversations you haven't been able to have on your own. We draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), one of the most researched and effective approaches to couples therapy, to help you understand the negative cycle you keep getting caught in and rebuild the emotional bond underneath the conflict.
We also use tools from the Gottman Method, built on decades of research with thousands of couples, to strengthen friendship and intimacy, manage conflict in healthier ways, and rebuild trust after infidelity or betrayal.
Through Internal Family Systems (IFS), we help each partner understand the protective parts of themselves that fuel defensiveness or reactivity, so you can return to your relationship from a calmer, more grounded place.
No two couples are the same, so your therapist will come alongside you, tailoring these approaches to your unique relationship, whether you are healing from an affair, navigating communication struggles, or deciding the future of your marriage. We guide the process collaboratively and at your pace, with the understanding, empathy, and emotional safety that make lasting change possible.

Frequently Asked Questions about
Couples Therapy
How much is couples therapy?
For a 50 min session, price depends on the therapist you are working with. Intern therapists charge $5-$55 based on household income. LMFT-Candidates charge $135 and our LMFTs charge $145. Additionally, our LMFT-candidates and LMFTs offer sliding scale rates based on availability.
Do you take insurance?
We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We can provide a Superbill for most services which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients find that private pay offers benefits insurance doesn't: no required diagnosis on your record, no session limits, and complete privacy.
What will I talk about with my therapist?
Whatever you would like to! Our therapist will also help you understand what topics, behaviors, or patterns may be helpful to explore based on the unique goals you have. In couples therapy, your therapist will help you and your partner understand what may be contributing to conflict, communication issues, or help you all process and heal from betrayal trauma.
Is Couples Therapy right for me if I am considering divorce?
It depends! If you are considering divorce, discernment counseling, may be what you are looking for. Discernment counseling helps couples gain confidence and clarity about a path forward (couples therapy, divorce, or keeping the relationship as is).
How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, which builds momentum early on. As you progress, many move to biweekly and eventually once a month before graduating therapy. If you need a different frequency based on your needs, your therapist is happy to work to accommodate your needs.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals. Some clients feel meaningful relief in 8–20 sessions; others working through deeper trauma or long-standing patterns choose to work together for longer. We'll check in regularly about your progress and see what works best for you!
How do I find a therapist that is a good fit for me?
Reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. We'll talk about what you're looking for, answer your questions, and match you with the therapist who best fits your needs. Additionally, if one of our therapists is not the best fit for your needs, we will help connect you with one of our trusted colleagues who may be the best fit for you. We look forward to getting to talk with you!
